If you want to make sure bidders actually offer RAL-certified products, you should choose to use the following wording in your invitations for tender:

Tips for tendering – RAL-certified bark humus

Bark humus carrying the RAL ”Substrates for Plants“ quality mark RAL GZ 250/1-2, particle size: < 20 mm

  • Soil improver from shredded, heat-fermented and fractionated (coniferous) bark to enrich the top soil with humus and improve top soil structure.
  • In the case of large-area tillage, bark humus must be applied to the surface before the final tilling. Apply … litres per square metre or a layer of … cm in thickness.
  • Substrate constituent from shredded, heat-fermented and fractionated (coniferous) bark to add to the planting hole filling. The bark humus must be mixed well with the material removed from the planting hole, using … litres of bark humus per planting hole. When using a planting auger, bark humus must be applied to the soil surface before digging and mixed during digging.

The supplier must provide evidence that the production site delivering the bark mulch carries the ”Substrates for Plants” quality mark RAL GZ 250/1-2 (bark humus).
