Herbs really take off in spring with a high-quality soil for herbs<\/h3>\n

What’s more, thyme, lavender and co. are also extremely attractive. So it’s no wonder that aromatic plants are at the top of the wish list for amateur chefs and gardening enthusiasts alike. As they require comparatively little space, most herbs can be grown just as well on a windowsill as in a pretty planter on a balcony or patio. Herbs are also pleasantly easy to care for once they are well established.<\/p>\n

Herbs like it low in nutrients<\/h3>\n

However, disappointment can sometimes occur right at the beginning when seedlings turn brown after a short time or bought plants in pots start to fade or die completely. The reason for such failures often lies in the substrate. Seedlings, for example, do not tolerate heavily fertilised soil. The high concentration of fertiliser salts would remove too much moisture from the delicate roots and cause the little plants to dry out – a phenomenon that does not only affect herbs. In addition, Mediterranean spice plants in particular thrive best in relatively poor, but well-drained substrate in the long term. For sowing and for herbs with low nutrient requirements, we therefore recommend special sowing soil or soil for herbs<\/strong> with the RAL quality mark<\/a><\/strong><\/span>.<\/p>\n

With the right soil to success<\/h3>\n

Quality-assured soils are tested for possible contamination with pathogens, weed seeds and plant-damaging substances. The quality mark also guarantees an optimum nutrient supply for the plants and a good water storage capacity of the substrate. In the case of sowing soils and soil for herbs , the main focus is not only on the nutrient content but also on a permanently loose crumb structure: natural additives such as sand or perlite<\/a><\/span><\/strong> improve water drainage and aeration, thus creating perfect growing conditions<\/strong> for the healthy aromatic plants.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
